Week 2 of Bedrest

Aug 08, 11 Pumpkin Muffin at Panera

So today marks my two weeks of being on bedrest. Now that the doctor days I’m able to sit up and walk around a bit, it’s not too bad. But still, he doesn’t want me doing housework, go out, or be on my feet too much. I still sit in a tilted/almost slouching position because I don’t want any pressure on the baby, but it’s much better than last week.

I’ve been trying to get more sleep since I know that’ll keep me on my back a little longer. And throughout the days, I work on a few things on the computer so I can feel like I accomplished a few things here and there.

I’ve been listening to the Mozart Effect: Music for Newborns – A Bright Beginning and it’s accompanying CD’s via Spotify and I love it. It’s so soothing and I can work or fall asleep easily.

Last week, the baby was kicking and punching me mostly on my tummy, but this week, I’m feeling kicks much lower. I heard this is normal, but it’s quite disturbing when I’m trying to work. lol It makes me wonder if I should be sitting at all. The kicks are much higher when I’m laying down, so I might limit the hours I’m sitting in front of a computer this week to see.

And finally, today turned out to be a very nice day! My friend/colleague stopped by and brought me lunch — Panera! I did have a craving for their Mediterranean Veggie sandwich (minus the feta cheese + wheat bread instead) and that’s what she brought me! It was so good, and I quickly devoured it. And for dessert, she also brought my favorite pumpkin muffin! I usually cut them in half and share with Albert, but I couldn’t stop eating it today. lol What can I say, the baby didn’t want to share with Daddy. haha

Anyhow, I got to show her the nursery and the bedding set I plan to purchase.. so much fun. :) We’ll have to plan a craft night at my place when I’m up to creating projects.

I started reading The Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy today and I love it so far. It’s about a girl’s point of view of pregnancy. It’s more like a supplement to all the doctor type of books, but I love the personality and how it’s just so easy to read. It’s like having a conversation with your girlfriends who already experienced childbirth. There is a lot of babbling of the same things over and over again, but I was getting sleepy so it didn’t bother me too much. lol

And if you tell me I’m starting to get really big, it actually makes me happy. That just means I’m doing everything right and the baby is healthy and growing. The only downside is, my clothes are starting to feel tight.. and I’m starting to steal some of Albert’s shirts just to be comfortable. lol Ahh well, no more clothes shopping for me for a while.
