Week 23 and Kicking all the Way!
To my daughter,
You’re the first thing on my mind when I wake up. I’m always worried that I may be sleeping wrong or hurting you somehow, but you always reassure me that you’re alright by giving me a few kicks every morning. Your daddy comes over and talks to you before he goes to work. And then he waits for you to hi-five him a few times before he leaves. It makes every morning special to him!
It’s so much fun watching and feeling you move around during the day. Yes, I can see you kicking now, and pretty clearly too. There also a few hours each day where you take naps — you’re starting to sleep as much as me now!
Daddy comes home in the evening and makes sure there’s plenty of food for the both of us. That’s usually when you’re the most active! I guess you’re excited to hear him. Or is it the food?
At night, I make sure I’m in the correct sleeping position before I doze off. And you give us a kick or two to tell us good night.
You make us smile and so happy, beyond words can describe. Keep on growing strong and we can’t wait to meet you this winter. Happy Week 23 darling!
Love,
Mommy

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound, you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won’t faze her when she hears them outside the womb. Baby’s little face is fully formed…minus the baby fat, of course.
