Week 24 – Full of Kicking and Punching!

Aug 26, 11 Week 24

Baby darling, you’re quite the kicker and puncher this week! Daddy and I can see you pushing against my stomach too. We’re assuming it’s your little bottom since you’re kicking near that side as well. :) We’re thrilled and happy to see you growing so much!

This week, we’ve both have been taking a lot of naps right after meals. lol You also keep me company late at night when I’m writing on the computer. And you seem to like to hang out on the right side of my stomach, so I look lopsided at times. haha

And together, we finished reading Bossypants by Tina Fey and The Kane Chronicles (Book 1): The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan! Starting Book 2 of the Kane Chronicles next week. October will be here soon, and I can’t wait for The Son of Neptune to come out!

How your baby’s growing:
Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she’ll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
