Week 35 – It’s been a Tough Week

Nov 11, 11 Week 35

Happy 11.11.11 Day! It’s also your Week 35 and it’s been an amazing journey we’re having together baby! Although, I have to admit, the past week has been one of the toughest so far.

Early Monday morning I was having painful sensations every few minutes near my lower abdomen for about half an hour or so. It was kinda scary, but subsided later. After your Dad saw that I was ok, he finally left for work. I tried shifting my position all day and it helped — walk a bit, then sit down, lay down, etc.

Monday night, your Daddy and I took our second baby class — Labor and Delivery Process — and that was really informative. The nurse really knows her stuff. The videos they showed were a bit graphic though. I just want to fast forward to the part where they put you in my arms for the first time. That’s the big moment I’m waiting for. :) I did ask her about the pains I felt earlier in the morning and she said with a smile, it was my body’s way of preparing me for labor.

Tuesday and Wednesday rolled around and these days were really tough to get through too. I started having strong contractions and pretty much couldn’t do anything all day. Even getting out of bed or off the couch seemed daunting! The pain was mostly on my upper right side. I learned Monday night that these were Braxton Hicks contractions that I’ve been feeling all along (and not you stretching or moving around, sorry for blaming you dear! heh). Tuesday night, the contractions were happening every 10 minutes for about 90 seconds and that really got me worried. But after a few glasses of water, and some shifting of position, they subsided. Thank goodness!

Your daddy and I are looking forward to an uneventful November… but we do have our bags packed and car seat installed just in case. We recently bought you a stroller and car seat. After much researching, we found the perfect one for all three of us. And your newborn and 0-3 months clothes have been washed. I packed your bag yesterday. It’s filled with a few outfits to take you home in, diapers from your Auntie Lena, swaddles, blankets, lotion, and a few other things.

Some funny things to remember about this week..

  • My legs were getting tired, so I had to sit on your dad’s lap for a few minutes. And the moment I did, he just went Ugh! how much do you weigh now? lol He didn’t mean it as an insult, just surprised of how fast you’re growing. Let’s just say, I weigh more than your Daddy right now.. haha
  • You keep making this clicking sound when you move your legs and arms. I know I’m not going crazy when I say that. lol
  • I no longer have clothes that fit.. I’m borrowing your Daddy’s clothes now.
  • Last night, we went shopping for more necessities for you. And Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing song came on. And you were constantly kicking! I guess you hear that same melody from my Glee cd too much? haha
  • Just FYI, you have really strong arms and legs and you let me know every hour or so.
  • One of the biggest challenge this week is putting on my own socks! If I sit at a certain angle, I can do it. But it’s always easier to just ask your Dad to help me.

Happy Week 35 sweetie. Next week will be another big milestone! We’ll see you in December. :)

How your baby’s growing:
Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that she’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in your womb, she isn’t likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
