Nothing Ever Happens at the South Pole
This is my daughter’s favorite book at the moment! It’s called “Nothing Ever Happens at the South Pole,” the latest app by Oceanhouse Media. This previously unpublished title was written in the 1960s by Stan and Jan Berenstain. Yes you guessed it! They’re the creators of classic “The Berenstain Bears” series. This story features an adorable young penguin who receives are journal in the mail. He wanders the South Pole, eagerly search for an adventure to write about in his book, but sadly, he can’t seem to find anything exciting. No wild animals, no giant snowballs, no hungry whales…. But maybe he was just looking in the wrong place?
It’s an adorable story and I love how each page rhymes. Like most Oceanhouse Media books (omBooks), there are three options for reading — Auto Play, Read it Myself, and Read To Me. In “Auto Play” mode, the story is read to your child by a professional narrator and pages turn at a steady pace. In “Read it Myself” mode, your child can turn the pages and read the book on their own. And in the “Read To Me” mode, a professional narrator reads the book, but your child gets to turn the pages at his/her own pace. And in every mode, tapping and touching items on the screen will tell your child what the items are.
The app is available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad as a universal app, as well as for Android. You can purchase it at a special introductory price of $2.99.
