Review: Petunia Pickle Bottom Sashay Satchel

Every mother deserves to splurge on themselves once in a while. For me, I love bags, so browsing for stylish diaper bags is my guilty pleasure. I really wanted one that converts into a backpack so it’d be easier to carry when I’m babywearing.

I was overjoyed when I found out that Petunia Pickle Bottom Sashay Satchels could be converted into backpacks!

Pros

  • With my Baby and PetuniaIt’s stylish and doesn’t look like a diaper bag. Always a plus!
  • Love, love the way it converts into a backpack.
  • Lightweight and Earth-friendly. This bag is great if you’re just making a quick run somewhere. You’re able to carry all the essentials for the baby for a few hours. And it’s eco-friendly because it’s made of certified organic cotton.
  • Comes in many beautiful designs. These bags are also high-end quality, as far as diaper bags go. The 2011 models cost around $100, 2012 models cost $129, and 2012 glazed models costs $179. My husband did end up treating me to this Positively Plaid design for Mother’s Day. It’s a 2011 model, but I love the design and colors. It’s available for $99. My newest favorite design is Blooming Begonia!
  • There are lots of pockets on the interior to keep all your items well-organized.
  • These bags come in many beautiful designs and colors. Picking just one is hard.
  • Can be worn as a shoulder bag or backpack.

Cons

  • The pockets on the sides of the bag aren’t very stretchy. You can fit a wide-mouth bottle in them but it’s a tight fit. It definitely won’t fit most sippy cups. I usually just put my phone and sunglasses in these pockets.
  • Must spot-clean. Yes, unfortunately, it’s not washable or easily wipeable. That’s what the glazed versions are for, but they cost a little bit more.
  • Stroller clips are sold separately for $19.
  • The changing pad that comes with this purse is quite thin and doesn’t have padding. I would recommend carrying a different one.
  • The purse is deep because of its shape. It makes it unique, but sometimes you do have to dig through items if they’re way at the bottom.

Since I wear my baby when we go out, I didn’t want to carry a diaper bag on just one shoulder. So finding a bag that was both stylish and can convert into a backpack was really important to me. I did find a few other bags that converted into backpacks , but the design of the Petunia Sashay really caught my eye.

The new Fall 2012 line just came out, and the designs are just beautiful! New to the line are the lovely embossed fabric bags which look absolutely elegant. These ones are available for $170.

Overall, I absolutely love this bag. It fits all the essential baby and Mommy items that I need. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a beautiful, stylish, medium-size diaper bag with the ability to convert into a backpack. These elegant diaper bags range from $99 – $170, depending on the year, design, and model.
