Waiting for Mommy and Daddy

Jul 29, 13 Staring out Window

LA traffic isn’t great. I wish I could cut the time it takes me to get off of work and go to my daughter’s daycare. It’s about 30 minutes at least..

I arrived at my daughter’s daycare and saw her alone with her teacher again. She was teaching her teacher how to sign a few animals. I watched in excitement. Then I saw her mood change. She suddenly just leaned on the table and stared out the window. Her teacher asked her what she was doing.. daydreaming? Looking out the window? Looking at the pictures?

The moment she asked if she was looking at pictures, my daughter stared at our family photo on the wall and started crying. Poor thing! She was missing Mommy and Daddy and waiting for us to pick her up like all the other parents.

The moment she started crying, I scooped her in my arms and she stopped with a surprised look on her face. She didn’t realize I was sitting behind her for the last 5 minutes.

I’ll make the effort to work even faster and leave a few minutes earlier to pick her up.
